Our history
Previously, I faced significant challenges after becoming disabled as a result of someone else's actions. During that time, I struggled with my mental health and often felt hopeless. Although I could not see it at the time, my situation eventually improved. I now recognise the importance of perseverance. My well-being has improved, and I value the experiences and activities I once avoided. I am healing and have found renewed joy in life, particularly through reading.
Our Why
Our mission is to promote global literature and foster a relaxed, inclusive book club experience. Les Neo Epicuriens is more than a book club; it is a movement that celebrates life via literature, sports, and culture.
Sharing Book Club
The Sharing Les Épicuriens Bookclub is inspired by the BBC2 TV show "Between the Covers". Meetings will be held online or at local venues such as restaurants and pubs, where members can discuss their current reads and rediscovered books. The bookclub name is Les Voltairiens, named after the famous French writer and philosopher Voltaire. An organiser will facilitate discussions to encourage participation and promote reading and literature.
Debate/ History / Health Club
As in ancient Greece, the Debate Club will meet to discuss current news topics, excluding sensitive subjects that are not appropriate for a respectful debate setting. Members will be divided into two teams who will bring their book expertise, one supporting and one opposing the topic, with a neutral organiser managing speaking times and questions.
Workshop club
The workshop includes four preparatory sessions and two optional field sessions. The preparatory sessions cover activities such as cooking, a guided historical tour, wine tasting, and more. Participants must attend the introduction and the three following sessions. The organiser will coordinate all five sessions for the set price. Members are encouraged to share their expertise and relevant books with the group. Please note that solo tours are not available.

The Book club is not the only revolutionary aspect of Les Voltairiens. We rethink pricing from the ground up to create something truly new and special.
